12 Days Left in Costa Rica

In Costa Rica by Eller Student

I can’t believe that we only have 12 days left in Costa Rica. It feels like it was only yesterday when I standing in the middle of the hotel room the first day thinking about whether or not I would enjoy this program. If I had only known what amazing adventures were waiting for me.

I have grown to love my house, my job, and especially my family. After a month my 7 year old host sister started calling me brother and gets really sad when anyone mentions that I will be leaving soon. At least I know she will be happy to take back her throne as Wii house champion given that I have broken every single one of her records, not a big achievement when you realize that she is only 7 but for her I am some sort of Wii pro. My host mom even told me that she found Diana (my sister) putting on some of my cologne and later explaining how she thought that this was the source of my powers and good luck!

I am proud to say that I have gotten a job offer from my boss and I am planning on returning in January and taking the job. I am really excited and I could not have asked for a better company to work for. They take birthday celebrations at the office to a whole new level and that is just one of the many things I love about the people I work with.

Two weeks ago we went on an overnight trip to Jaco, where we had previously stayed, and we had an amazing weekend. Before arriving at Jaco we went canopying at a place where they took us on a 45 min horseback ride and later got to ride 25 cables over 10 different waterfalls. That was by far one of my favorite experiences so far given that I am terrified of heights and now I am proud to say that I confirmed that fear and I am still scared.

This coming weekend we are going to Puerto Viejo from Saturday to Monday (gotta love holidays especially The Annexation of Guanacaste Day). We have rented two bungalows by the beach and we are super excited to visit the Caribbean and enjoy their stress-free way of life.

12 Days away from leaving Costa Rica and 28 days away from returning to Tucson. This is a bittersweet moment. I wanted to upload some pictures but the blog is being lame and won’t let me upload any pictures larger than 2MB. so here is a video from the canopy trip!
