Living in Hong Kong for the past 6 weeks has been an awesome experience that i will remember for the rest of my life. I have learned about Asian business, Asian culture, made new friends, and have had a great time doing it. I have traveled to Macao and Thailand, and will be going to Malaysia at the end of the program. This has given me the opportunity to see how other parts of Southeast Asia compare to both Hong kong and America.
Overall, while i do like Southeast Aisa, i am definitly glad i live in America. Even though Hong Kong is a wealthly country, per capita wealther than the US, i fell like most people live much better in the US. Becasue land is very limited, realestate in Hong Kong is super expensive. This means that even semi-wealthly families live in very small high rise condos or even still live with their parents. Most families dont have cars becasue as we were told, the land value to build a one-car garage is close to $100,000 USD! Personally i perfer the American style of living.
Going to Phuket, Thailand was a great expiernce. Phuket has some of the nicest beaches and resorts in the world. Phuket is a great place to visit, but again it made me glad i live in the US. The main areas of Phuket are very dirty and some places a little sketchy.
