Final Thoughts

In Spain by Eller Student

Now that I have had time to reflect on my 8 weeks in Barcelona, I have realized that it truly was a life changing experience. I met so many new people that I will not only talk to and be friends with for the rest of my college career, but for the rest of my life. I saw and experienced a culture different from anything I am used to. I was forced to adapt to a new lifestyle, which turned out to be very beneficial for me.

Looking back on my internship position, I am happy I chose to work for the company I did. I enjoyed working with each person in the company and found it very beneficial both on a professional and personal basis. I had the chance to improve my Spanish while also helping other employees practice and improve their English.

I would say some of the most memorable experiences while in Spain were celebrating the various traditions. It was such an eye opener to me because their traditions are so different from the ones we have here. For instance, I got to participate in the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. Never in America would a tradition like that be allowed. Another memorable tradition was the summer solstice. That day was one of the best days in Barcelona.  Not only was it one of the biggest celebrated holidays, but we also visited the FC Barcelona stadium, went to a Flamenco show, watched a Euro Cup game, and then went and joined the Fiesta on the beach.
