This week in my internship I had the opportunity to attend a lecture put on by an Italian leather company called Linapelle. This Lecture was introducing my company, and many others to the future trends and popular colors for the Winter 14 and 15 seasons. Not only was it an amazing experience for me to get to go and hear what the future of fashion has in store for the upcoming years, but I also had the ability to see how interdependent the fashion industry is on small companies like Miss L Fire. I would estimate that there were around 50 companies represented at the trend selection lecture and everyone around me was eagerly taking notes on the presentation so that they could bring the information back to their design studios in order to create their own variations of the ideas presented to us. All of these small companies rely on this presentation in order to ensure that they stay on trend with the larger, high fashion brands such as Prada and Gucci.
Just like these companies are dependent on Linapelle, The designer and owner of Miss L Fire is dependent on her employees to pass this information on to her, since she was in Las Angeles and unable to attend the lecture. Without our notes and pictures Lynsey would just be following in the footsteps of other designers rather than paving her own way and creating her own versions of the upcoming years trends.
