Adjusting in Spain

In Spain by Eller Student

2 weeks in Barcelona have already flown by! The first week was quite a whirlwind, but I think I’m finally feeling adjusted. Jet lag had me feeling all kinds of emotions, and not being able to sleep really had me missing my family and friends. Once we started work though it made sleeping easier and helped me get into a routine. I still miss my family, but making friends here has helped with that a lot!

The culture here is definitely different, but I don’t know if I was really feeling a “shock”. I’ve traveled abroad before, so I felt that I was somewhat prepared for the cultural variations. I think the hardest thing to adjust to has been the fact that the sun sets very late! I usually go to bed around 10 or 11, but the sun is barely setting here at that time! Having meals so spread out in the day has been a hard adjustment too, but it’s doable.

So far I’m enjoying my time in Barcelona and I’m glad I’ve been able to adjust. Now that I’m more comfortable I’m ready to thoroughly explore the city!
