London Summer Abroad: Expectations

In England by Eller Student

Corene Roads, Finance, ’16

Big Ben: London, EnglandOfficially only four days until I leave Arizona for one the most exciting summers of my life in London! For the next 9 weeks I will be studying, working, and exploring in one of the most interesting cities in the world. As the excitement sets in, so do the nerves. Having only lived in Tucson my entire life and never traveling east of Texas, this summer will be quite the adventure for me. I am curious about the culture shock I will soon be facing, but I honestly have no idea what to expect. Many people have told me wonderful things about London, but it is almost impossible to know exactly what it will be like. Regardless, I cannot wait to spend my summer in this beautiful city. I plan on keeping an open mind and having the experience of a lifetime.

I have not had the chance to travel much and this summer could not be a more perfect time to start. While I am living in London, I hope to travel to other places in Europe as much as I can. There is so much to see and do and luckily, all the places I want to visit are relatively close together. I look forward to being exposed to as many different cultures as possible and learning everything I can about all these amazing place. Let’s just hope my fear of flying is broken after this 10 hour flight…

Not only am I excited to leave the daily 110 degree weather for three months, but I am also beyond excited for this opportunity and very much look forward to the people I will meet, the professional experience I will gain in my internship, and the fascinating cultures I will learn about. See you in 9 weeks, America!!
